The Virginia City GP celebrated its 50th anniversary, October 21, with nearly 1000 riders taking part. The 200-year-old city was founded during the Comstock Lode era in Nevada history, which only lasted about 20 years, but fortunately there’s no end in sight for the Gran Prix.

This year it once again started on C Street in the middle of town, with riders lined up in waves of 10. When it was all over, GasGas-mounted JT Baker claimed first place in the Open Pro class, winning Saturday’s four-hour race by four minutes over Yamaha rider Justin Bonita.

Nick Stover (KTM) was third.

Brody Honea looked like he had the race well in hand on the last lap, but he tangled with a lapped rider and ended up on the DNF list.

On Sunday, one of the biggest storms in the area’s recent history dumped four inches of rain on the three-hour Novice race. Andrea Keefe survived it to claim the Open Novice win. Only five riders completed five laps on Sunday.
