Trilobite Micas Urban Slim Elastic Men’s Motorcycle Jeans Review
Cycle News Staff | July 2, 2020
Designed in the Czech Republic and imported to the U.S. exclusively by Motonation, Trilobite Premium Aramid Fashion offers a full line of men’s and women’s casual motorcycle apparel designed as much for the ride as after the ride.
The brand is focused on casual fashion with functional design so that you can ride with style and protection without standing out once you get to where you’re going. Their Micas Urban Jeans offer CE level 2 adjustable-height knee protection along with hip pockets ready to accept optional hip guards. They’re made of 11.5-oz. elastic denim, 98% cotton, and 2% elastane fabric (similar to spandex), and feature DuPont Kevlar lining through the knees and seat. With stretch panels in the knees and a raised waist back for additional coverage, they’re available in two colors: blue acid and gray. The jeans come in men’s waist sizes 30 through 38, and Trilobite also offers a women’s version, the Trilobite Micas Urban Slim Elastic Ladies Jeans, in sizes 4 through 14.

Rider Analysis | Trilobite Micas Urban Slim Elastic Men’s Motorcycle Jeans
Personally, I’ve never had a pair of moto jeans before, as I usually ride with full protective gear, but these jeans don’t make me feel like I’m lacking protection, and I really like the way they fit. The Micas Urban Jeans are stretchy jeans that feel good and look great. Their knee pads are comfortable and stay in place while you’re riding. You could even take the knee pads out and wear the jeans as regular casual clothing, and no one would know that they’re made for riding motorcycles.
With Kevlar in the seat and knees, and CE level 2 knee pads, plus the available hip pads, I’d be perfectly okay wearing them on an all-day cross-country ride, as long as there’s no rain in the forecast. Kevlar sounds like it would be hard and uncomfortable, but whatever Trilobite did to integrate the Kevlar with the denim makes it very soft and not at all stiff. They feel like your favorite pair of jeans from the first moment you put them on. So far, I’ve only worn them on lunch rides to the local M/C hangout, but I’ll be happy to add them to my collection of travel gear, especially for those kinds of events where you’re on and off the bike, kicking tires and talking about motorcycles.CN ~Keith Dowdle
