Payson, UT (June 16, 2020) – It was a wild night at SLC5 for Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS at round 15 of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series. Team rider Benny Bloss was on the gas all day, capturing his first heat race win of his career, while Blake Bagget earned another top 10 main-event finish.

Blake Baggett would have a wild ride throughout the night. After crashing in his heat race through the whoops, he would go through the LCQ to make the main event. Blake would take over the lead early in the LCQ and the Seat Concepts sponsored rider rode to the race win. In the main, he would get pinched at the start, shuffling Blake deep into the pack. There was no time to waste as he started moving forward through the field. Hitting his lines, would work his way up from 17th to inside the top 10 by the half-way point. He kept the charge forward, and by the checkered flag the SoCal SuperTrucks sponsored rider would lock down seventh place.

Benny Bloss came into round 15 ready as he clicked it up another gear during practice, putting in the second fastest lap time of the day. He brought that speed into the heat race as he launched off the gate and rounded the first lap in third place and quickly moved into second. He didn’t back down and put the pressure on the leader, forcing Martin Davalos into a mistake that allowed him to take over the lead. With two laps to go, Benny found himself under attack from Dean Wilson. Both would go at it for a lap, exchanging position as Benny held off the charge taking his first ever heat race win. In the main event, Benny would get bunched up in the first turn and start outside the top ten. He had speed on the tight track, using his Dunlop tires to gain traction on the slippery surface and moved himself into the top ten by mid-race. While in a heated battle for 9th position, a tangle with another rider would send Benny to the ground. He remounted and the Engine Ice sponsored rider worked his way back up to 13th place at the checkered flag.

“Overall, I am happy with my ride tonight. My speed was there all day and to get my first-ever heat race win is so exciting. I was riding well in the main and felt I could have battled for a top five. It was unfortunate I tangled with another rider for position. Still, I am happy where we are at. I’m looking forward to the last two rounds and finishing the season strong.”– Benny Bloss

With two races left of the season, the team now prepares for Wednesday’s race at Rice-Eccles stadium and round 16 of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series.
