The Ducati Monster 821 goes back to its roots for 2018
Ducati has released the first for five new bikes for the 2018 model year in a revamped Monster 821.
The mid-size Monster is getting a host of updates in electronics, bodywork, and chassis, but the engine will remain unchanged as Ducati attempts to align it more closely with the bike that started the Monster craze (and pretty much saved Ducati from the axe), the Monster 900 of 1992.
The 821 will still pack a rider-friendly 109 hp at 9250 rpm and 63 lb-ft from the Testastretta V-twin and Brembo M4-32 brakes, but for next year, the 821 gets new styling, a TFT-display dash that features a gear position indicator and gas meter, and you can now get the Ducati Quick Shift up and down clutchless shifting and Ducati Multimedia System as an aftermarket accessory.
The 821 will feature the Ducati Safety Pack, which combines ABS, traction control, and power modes, all with three individual settings, and the Monster will also return to the iconic yellow paint scheme (an 821 model feature only), to go alongside the Red and Matte Black color schemes, with an MSRP starting at $11,995 announced by Ducati North America.
We’ll be riding the new 821 Monster next week in Italy so stay tuned…
