2017 WORCS Mesquite Results: FMF KTM’s Taylor Robert returned to the WORCS series and picked up where he left off, and that is winning. Robert dominated the opening round of the 2017 Rocky Mountain MC World Off-Road Championship Series, Presented By Maxxis and Dirt Bike in Mesquite, Nevada, at the Mesquite MX facility, January 7-8. He made a few passes early in the Pro race, worked his way into the lead and never looked back, finishing nearly three minutes ahead of his nearest rival after the near two-hour-long race.

That rival was Gary Sutherlin who held second place the whole way but just couldn’t quite match the pace the leader was setting.

Robby Bell finished out the race approximately 30 seconds behind Sutherlin, making it an all WORCS Champion podium (all three have won WORCS titles in the past). Bell, however, had to work hard for his third after getting off to a bad start, then having to deal with a pesky Travis Damon, who was reluctant to give up third. He eventually did, though, but impressed many with his fourth-place finish.

Justin Seeds was fifth, followed by Trevor Stewart, Justin Wallis, Blayne Thompson, Eric Yorba and Michael Del Fante, who completed the top 10 riders in the Pro class.

In the Pro 2 class, KTM rider Logan Chambers passed Dante Oliveira on the second lap for the lead and that was that. Chambers finished two minutes ahead of Oliveira, who held a massive lead over third place Alex Dorsey.

In Pro 2, Cooper Abbott made his dad, Destry, very proud. Destry was on site to watch his son take the class win over the rest of the 15-rider field. Cooper completed the first lap in seventh place but steadily worked his way up to the front , passing Chance Fullerton for the lead three laps from the end. Cooper went on to take the win a little over a minute ahead of Fullerton.
