In this week’s Throwback Thursday, we roll back the clock 19 years to 1997 and the AMA Teamline 750cc Supersport Series at Sears Point Raceway (now Sonoma Raceway). This photo shows the exact moment when Anthony Lupo (No. 82) loses the front end on his Suzuki GSX-R750 under heavy braking. Lupo crashed and took down race leader Doug Polen with him. Fortunately, both riders were OK and came back to make the restart of the race after it was red flagged. Polen finished the race fifth, Lupo in ninth. Jason Pridmore was crowned series champ that day.
