Cycle News Staff | July 4, 2016
The 2016 Red Bud Outdoor National MX was another epic event with a large, vocal crowd cheering on the top riders in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.
In the 450 class, Soaring Eagle Jimmy John’s Suzuki’s Ken Roczen continued to dominate the pack with a double moto win. Monster Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac started in front of Roczen in moto 2 and took the lead but Roczen quickly found a way past and proceeded to pull away leaving Tomac looking for answers on how to close the gap in the second half of the season.
The 250 class was more competitive but Star Racing Yamahalube Yamaha’s Cooper Webb is beginning to show that he will be the man to beat for the 2016 championship. He used 1-1 moto scores to take his second overall win in a row. A rough second moto for Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy allowed Webb to take over the points lead
