Kawasaki Racing Team’s Jonathan Rea eased to the second race win at Misano, after changing to the same ‘A’ rear tyre all his opponents used in race one.
It was his 11th race win of 2014 and extended his championship points total to 133. Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s Davide Giugliano was the long-term leader but he had to succumb to the pace of Rea at the end of 21 hot laps.
Red Devils Aprilia Racing Team’s Leon Haslam toughed it out for third place while Giugliano’s teammate Chaz Davies was a close fourth. Race one winner Tom Sykes placed fifth after having a good start from pole.
After sitting behind Red Devils Aprilia Racing Team’s Jordi Torres for some time Aprilia’s Max Biaggi finally passed the Spanish rider for sixth; and almost caught Sykes at the line in what was a remarkable comeback weekend.
Michele Pirro on the third Aruba.it Racing Ducati went eighth and once more Pata Honda’s Sylvain Guintoli outpaced teammate Michael van der Mark at the finish.
