Supercross: Adam Cianciarulo To Undergo Surgery On Shoulder

Adam Cianciarulo has chosen to forgo the rest of the 250 East Supercross Series and much of the first half of the outdoor National MX Series in order to get his injured shoulder fixed and healed.
The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Team rider dislocated the shoulder during last weekend’s Toronto Supercross. In fact, he dislocated the shoulder at least two times while trying to make it through the racing program but eventually had to call it a night before all was said and done. Cianciarulo had hoped to ride this weekend’s Supercross round in St. Louis but decided to have surgery on the shoulder instead. According to the team, he is expected to be out of action for three to four months.
“This setback is very disappointing,” said Cianciarulo. “We had a great start to the Supercross season and I wanted to win a championship for my Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team. As much as I would love to tough it out like I did last weekend, the people around me and I feel this is the best decision to fix my shoulder for good. I know I will come back stronger and ready to compete as soon as I can.”
The 17-year-old Supercross rookie, Cianciarulo, was leading the 250 East Supercross Champion going into the Toronto round, having already won three rounds, including five podium finishes.
Last year, Cianciarulo made his profession motocross debut in the outdoors Nationals but not until after missing much of the first half of the season with an illness.
