Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Andrea Dovisioso Breaks Collarbone
Cycle News Staff | January 5, 2012
Ducati Marlboro’s Nicky Hayden isn’t the only rider with a broken wing. Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Andrea Dovizioso tweeted on Thursday that he’d broken his right collarbone in a motocross accident.
The English part of the tweet-the first part is in his native Italian-read, “f—, i broke my right collarbone doing motocross.”
The damage may not keep him out of the first MotoGP test of 2012 in Sepang, Malaysia on Jan. 31/Feb. 1-2.
“He will have an op on Saturday, should be ok for Sepang. Fingers crossed!” team owner Herve Poncharal said in an e-mail message.
Though not all the teams will take part-there’s some question about all the CRTs being ready-it will be the first look at the 2012 MotoGP grid on their revised race bikes nearly three months after the final group test of 2011 following the season-ending 2011 Valencia Grand Prix.
