Florin Takes El Trial de Espana Win

Montesa-mounted Chris Florin pulled off an upset victory over seven-time and reigning AMA/NATC National Observed Trials Champion Geoff Aaron at the 35th annual El Trial de Espana, May 22-23, in Aguanga, California.

After an uncharacteristic five in the very first section on Saturday by defending El Trial champ Aaron, Florida TrialSport/Silkolene/Michelin-sponsored Florin enjoyed his best weekend yet at the traditional fund-raising event for the U.S. Trial des Nations team, and the Floridian ended the first day’s run leading with one point to Aaron’s six. Aaron closed the gap Sunday with a one-point performance on his Red Bull/Alpinestars/AXO Gas Gas, but Florin managed to stay within range and added his name to the new perpetual trophy with the final two-day score being in his favor, 6-7.

Cody Webb, a 15-year-old high school student, claimed third on his Gas Gas.
