Ricky Carmichael swept both motos at the 10th round of the AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championship Series at Spring Creek Raceway in Millville, Minnesota, August 19. On a track that Carmichael says is his favorite on the AMA circuit, Carmichael had no problems racking up his sixth win of the year. Carmichael now stands a good chance of wrapping up his second 250cc title in a row next week at Binghamton, New York.

In the first moto, Carmichael, on the Chevy Trucks Kawasaki, took the win over previous round winner Kevin Windham, on the factory-backed Suzuki. Yamaha’s Tim Ferry took third, followed by Mike LaRocco, who made his debut on the Honda CRF450R four-stroke, while Honda’s Sebastien Tortelli rounded out the top five.

In the second moto, Carmichael took the win again, ahead of Ferry, Windham, Yamaha’s David Vuillemin and LaRocco, making the top five overall: Carmichael, Windham, Ferry, LaRocco and Tortelli.

In the 125cc class, KTM Red Bull’s Grant Langston took the win, topping both motos and taking the series points lead away from SplitFire/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Mike Brown.

Langston scored the first-moto win over Yamaha of Troy’s Ernesto Fonseca, Brown, KTM Red Bull’s Brock Sellards and Suzuki’s Rodrig Thain. In the second moto, Langston came out on top ahead of Brown, Yamaha of Troy Nathan Ramsey, Thain and Sellards. The top five overall was Langston, Brown, Thain, Sellards and Fonseca.

Team Suzuki’s Travis Pastrana was running in third in the first moto when he pulled off the track, complaining of fatigue, since his recent injuries have prevented him from training. Pastrana also sat out the next moto, and he said that he’ll probably sit out the final two rounds of the series at Binghamton and Delmont, as well as forgo his spot on the MX des Nations team. He will be replaced by Mike Brown.

With two rounds left to go, Langston leads the 125cc points race with 372, followed by Brown with 369 and Pastrana with 311.
