Six-time Grand Prix winner Alex Rins has confirmed he will step away from motorcycle racing at the end of the season to pursue a new project. The Spaniard confirmed he will quite two-wheel racing and switch to four wheels and a series that “motivates me more.”

Alex Rins has confirmed he will leave MotoGP and step away from two-wheeled racing at the end of the 2026 season.
The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP rider had been linked with a move to WorldSBK, but has ruled out that possibility after deciding to pursue a different project, which he says is not yet ready to be announced.
“I will not go to Superbike next year,” said Rins. “I had two possibilities there. I really want to say thanks to them because they were quite interested in me. But I found another thing that really motivates me more.
“As I told you some races ago, I have a really interesting project in mind that I can’t reveal because it’s not done 100%.”
Rins arrived in MotoGP with Suzuki following a successful spell in the junior categories, having finished runner-up in both Moto3 and Moto2. He went on to claim six Grand Prix victories and 18 podiums.
Following Suzuki’s departure from MotoGP, Rins joined LCR Honda and took victory at the Americas GP in just his third race with the team. His 2023 campaign was later heavily disrupted by the serious leg injury he suffered at Mugello.
He subsequently moved to the Yamaha factory team, where he has spent the past three seasons.
Reflecting on his decision, Rins admitted stepping away from motorcycle racing had not been straightforward.
“I’m really happy. For sure it was difficult to choose, because all my life in MotoGP, in this championship, many fights, many races, many wins. Fourteen years, more or less. So yeah, I will stop with two wheels. So yeah, I will stop with two wheels.”
