In this week’s Throwback Thursday we dial back the clock to 1990 and the Barcelona Supercross. This photo shows Ron Lechien (6) and Mike Kiedrowski (2) running one and two in one of the two Main events of the two-day international affair. It was a remarkable event that saw 28 riders from America make the trip to participate. In addition to Lechien and Kiedrowski, other top names included riders like Johnny O’Mara, Rick Johnson, Broc Glover, Micky Dymond, Ron Tichenor, Ricky Ryan, Erik Kehoe and a young Jeremy McGrath, just to name a few.

At the time it was the largest number of American riders ever to compete in one of the off-season European invitational Supercross events.

This photo happened to capture the top two riders of the Barcelona Supercross, with Lechien scoring the most points over the two nights, followed by Kiedrowski and Dean Matson, who finished third.
