Dorna Sports will be known as MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group from now on in the first significant name change for the company since it acquired the MotoGP World Championship in 1992.

Dorna’s rebranding is part of the increasing influence of new owners, Liberty Media.

The switch represents a “refreshed identity aligned with the future direction of the sport,” according to an official release.

The championship was rebranded at the end of 2024, when a new logo was introduced, and this name change comes in when the company is undergoing significant internal changes since Liberty Media’s acquisition, which went through in July of 2025.

“The company name change is much more than a new identity—it is a statement of intent,” said CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta. “MotoGP has grown far beyond just a championship; it has become a global entertainment property followed passionately around the world.

“As MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group, we are building on years of continuous growth to accelerate innovation and global expansion while always preserving the spirit and values that define our sport.”

The aim, an official statement reads, is to strengthen the reach of the championship to new territories as well as younger and more diverse audiences. Despite the name, the company pledged its commitment to the World Superbike Championship and Road to MotoGP programs.CN
