2026 Ducati Monster First Look and Specifications

Rennie Scaysbrook | October 23, 2025

Ducati has unveiled its 2026 Monster, moving the naked roadster that has been a stalwart since 1992 onto the brand’s latest 890cc V2 platform, replacing the older 937cc Testastretta 11° twin. The new engine, already used in the Panigale V2, Streetfighter V2, and Multistrada V2, brings the Monster in line with Euro 5+ emissions regulations while trimming weight and improving efficiency.

With this update, only the DesertX and Hypermotard 950 remain to transition away from the 937cc motor, and both are expected to be updated by the EICMA Show in Milan this November.

The new 890cc twin produces a claimed 109 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 67 lb-ft of torque at 7,250 rpm. Ducati says 80 percent of that torque is available between 4000 and 10,000 rpm, making for strong midrange drive and a more than capable traffic light steed.

Weight is a claimed 386 pounds dry, which is a drop of about nine pounds compared to the outgoing version. This is thanks in part to the new engine being 13 pounds lighter. Valve checks are now stretched to 28,000 miles.

The Monster is revamped but Ducati claim it’s closer than ever to the original from 1992.

The chassis continues to use Ducati’s front frame design that was first seen on the 2018 Panigale V4 S, with the engine serving as a stressed member. Suspension is pretty basic and consists of a non-adjustable 43mm Showa fork and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock attached to the hollow double-sided swingarm inspired by the Panigale V4. Seat height is 32.1 inches, with optional lowering kits reducing it to 30.5 inches.

We’ll take ours in white, thank you very much!

Braking is handled by Brembo M4.32 radial calipers gripping dual 320mm discs, with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires mounted on 17-inch wheels (120/70 front, 180/55 rear). Ducati says new handlebar geometry and textured side panels beneath the tank improve rider control under braking.

Electronics are comprehensive, managed by a six-axis IMU: cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and engine brake control are all standard. A five-inch color TFT display offers light sensitivity and turn-by-turn navigation, operated via a joystick on the left switchgear. Cruise control, a bidirectional quickshifter, and heated grips are also available as aftermarket accessories.

Two versions will launch—the standard Monster and the Monster Plus, which adds a small flyscreen and passenger seat cowl. Pricing in the US for the Monster+ starts at $13,995 for the Monster+ in Ducati Red and $14,195 in Iceberg White. Traditionalists (including this writer) will appreciate one final touch: a good old-fashioned metal key. So, no proximity key. Yay!
