2026 Ducati Panigale V4 R First Look and Specs

Rennie Scaysbrook | September 23, 2025

Ducati’s new $49,995 MSRP Panigale V4 R represents the closest connection yet between its road-going superbikes and its MotoGP machinery that is dominating the grid with Marc Marquez.

Produced in a numbered series, the V4 R carries on a tradition that began with the 996 R in 2001, serving as the foundation for Ducati’s World Superbike efforts while offering enthusiasts a homologated machine with technology adapted directly from the track.

For $50K, this can e yours. And so, Ducati hopes, will be all the lap records.

At its core is the 998 cc Desmosedici Stradale R engine that now produces 208 hp at 13,250 rpm in U.S. trim, with a higher and more consistent torque curve than its predecessor. Peak torque is 84 lb-ft at 12,000 rpm, with gains of more than seven percent at midrange revs. With the Akrapovic racing exhaust fitted, output climbs to an eye-watering 235 hp. Ducati even claims you’ll get an extra four horsepower, taking you to 239 hp, by using Ducati’s performance oil, and top speed extends from 197 mph to 205 mph.

The Ducati Racing Gearbox makes use of a MotoGP/WorldSBK layout with neutral placed below first gear rather than between first and second. This setup, supported by a Ducati Neutral Lock on the handlebar, reduces the risk of hitting neutral under braking and allows quicker, more consistent shifts during racetrack riding.

Haters will hate on the fact the single-sided swingarm is gone until they ride the bike and feel the difference.

Chassis development also reflects Ducati’s race program. The V4 R uses a revised Front Frame with reduced lateral stiffness and the double-sided Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm first seen on the 2025 Panigale V4 S for improved traction and corner-exit drive.

Suspension comes via a pressurized Öhlins NPX25/30 fork and TTX36 shock, matched with a new Öhlins SD20 steering damper, with plenty of adjustability that can be tailored for circuit demands. Braking is handled by Brembo Hypure calipers on 330 mm discs, while forged aluminum wheels are fitted with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V4 tires, with WSBK-spec slicks available for track use.

Aerodynamics take a major step forward with MotoGP-derived Corner Sidepods, a first on a production motorcycle. Combined with larger wings, they generate up to 13 lb of downforce at 186 mph, improving stability, grip, and cornering precision. A variable air intake further increases top-end performance by raising intake pressure at speed.

See that little lever between the throttle and the kill switch? That’s the neutral lever, just like Nicolo’s racer.

The ergonomics are designed for racing, with the seat, tank, and footpegs shaped to help riders lock in under braking and move fluidly at lean. Electronics mirror the Ducati factory racing strategies, with Ducati Vehicle Observer software managing traction, braking, and engine braking. A new Race Brake Control system enables riders to brake later and harder, while a 6.9-inch display with a track-oriented “Grip Meter” provides real-time feedback on available traction.

There also a large range of Ducati Performance accessories, including carbon rims, racing fairings, and advanced data logging. We’re hoping to swing a leg over this beast when one becomes available so stay tuned…
