CMC/Skoal Bandit Golden State Nationals Attracted Top Riders

In this week’s Throwback we dial back the clock 39 years to 1986 and visit round four of the CMC/Skoal Bandit Golden State Nationals at Carlsbad Raceway. This photo shows the start of the first 250cc class moto and Suzuki’s George Holland (65) stuffing Jeff Ward (1W), causing Ward to wisely stand up his Kawasaki. As impressive as Holland and Wardy’s starts were, nothing could stop Team Honda’s Rick Johnson (5) who blasted through the talented field to win both motos to score the overall ahead of Broc Glover (seen just behind Holland in the helmet with PJ1 logo) and Jeff Ward. Holland finished fourth.
