After a month-long break, the J Day Off-Road Championship got back to business again at Crow Hill MX in Baldwinville, Massachusetts, August 23-24, for round nine of the AMA East Regional Championship, sponsored by Yamaha bLU cRU. A beautiful overcast day with some peeking sun and a breeze made racing conditions great, and dust was hardly a factor. Plaistow Powersports rider Justin Cokinos decided to mix up the points standings and come home with a win at Crow Hill GP II.

Moto one for the Pro AA race started out exactly like Crow Hill GP I started earlier this year, with Beta rider Brayden Nolette out front to start the 30-minute moto. At the end of lap one, Cokinos, aboard his Yamaha ride, put himself out front. Cokinos was able to hold off A&E rider Jiggs Fustini (KTM) until the last lap, where he made a pass for the moto-one win.
Nolette slipped back to finish third.
Ryan Amancio (KTM) started his moto off in sixth and finished in fourth. Jake Abbott (Husqvarna), who finished fifth, swapped positions with Amancio after a heated battle.
In moto two, AmPro rider Brandon Gregoire took the early lead, wanting to make up for his 11th in moto one when he had a tire issue.

As the motocross section of the course became dusty, as well as some sections in the woods, Gregoire used it to his advantage. The Yamaha rider opened up an 11-second lead by the end of lap one and went on to win moto two. However, his 11-1 moto scores weren’t enough to get on the overall podium, and he finished in sixth overall.
Fustini and Cokinos once again battled it out. This time, Cokinos was able to hold off Fustini for a second-place finish, with Fustini settling for third. Nolette finished fourth and Abbott fifth.
Cokino’s 2-2 was good enough to claim the Pro AA overall win, gaining eight valuable championship points on the leader. Fustini’s 1-3 landed him a second-place finish, with Nolette’s 3-4 completing the podium.

Fustini now leads the points standings by one point over Gregoire, 191 to 190, and Nolette is 17 points from the top, at 174.
The top amateur of the day was a new face to the top step. Jonathan Alipio (KTM) had a great day with speed and consistency. He finished 12th overall and first in A200, grabbing the A Overall trophy. Matt Webb (Yamaha) won the A-250 class and Patrick Gougeon (GasGas) won the A-Open class.

Addison Harris (KTM) won the Women’s Pro Overall with an 11-second lead on Kayla O’Neill (Yamaha), who finished second overall on the day; she’s continuing the lead in the class with a 50-point lead on Harris.CN
