(July 29, 2025) — Honda HRC rider Iker Lecuona has undergone successful surgery on his left distal forearm, fractured (ulna and radius) in a blameless multi-rider crash during the first WorldSBK race at the Balaton Park Circuit. The incident forced him to withdraw from the remainder of the Hungarian WorldSBK round and from the upcoming Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance race (scheduled for Sunday, August 3).

The procedure, performed on Monday, July 28, by Dr. Eduardo Sánchez Alepuz at IMED Valencia Hospital, was completed successfully, achieving the intended stabilization.

Lecuona spent the night at the clinic and was discharged this morning.

His next medical check up is scheduled for Monday, August 4.

HRC expresses its full support and best wishes to Iker Lecuona for a prompt recovery and will continue to provide further updates on Lecuona’s recovery in due course.

UPDATE July 31:  Xavi Vierge, who was previously announced to step in for Lecuona at the Suzuka 8 Hours, will not be participating for procedural reasons. Rather, Japanese rider Takumi Takahashi and Frenchman Johann Zarco will represent the factory Honda HRC team.
