Poway, CA (February 14, 2025) — Gared Steinke, also known as Stankdog, a 33-year-old Supercross rider from Klamath Falls, Oregon, was injured during the first timed qualifying practice at a Supercross event. While racing, he got bucked in the second set of whoops and attempted to bail off the back of the bike. Unfortunately, the rear fender hit him and launched him into the face of the next whoop, with the bike following behind and hitting him as well. This resulted in 12 broken bones in his leg, including both sides of his right ankle.
On February 4, 2025, Gared underwent surgery to repair his shattered leg. As a new dad and devoted husband to Shawnee, Gared has always worked hard to support his family, and this accident has left him an unknown timeline as to when he will be able to get back to his normal routine. The doctors are currently expecting him to be out for around six months. He rides for Motorsport Hillsboro, Vault Leverage Capital, and Patterson Homes, and has earned a reputation for his dedication and resilience both on and off the track.
Despite the challenges ahead, Gared’s determination to heal and his focus on his family keep him strong. Shawnee has been by his side throughout this difficult time, offering unwavering support.
