The Tenere 700 returns to Yamaha’s lineup for 2025 and while it’s still not the long-awaited Tenere Rally Edition, the US model does receive a list of updates geared at making the rider’s life easier.
For 2025, the T7 now features updated electronics including Yamaha’s Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) ride-by-wire system. This allows riders to switch between two throttle maps, Sport and Explorer, along with a selectable on/off traction control system.
A new, larger 6.3-inch vertical TFT screen features a full-color display where riders can access the vehicle’s information or use their smartphone via the Y-Connect app. The screen can be set to the “Street” theme for a traditional analog-style tachometer, while the “Explorer” theme offers a more modern digital style. Additionally, riders can access full screen turn-by-turn navigation through the Google Maps app.
A three-mode ABS system is also available for 2025. Mode one activates ABS in both wheels, mode two activates the front wheel only, and mode three deactivates ABS entirely. Riders can choose their desired ABS mode with the new switch located on the left side of the TFT display.
The Tenere’s 689cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder CP2 engine maintains the stacked six-speed transmission but receives a shorter intake duct to improve torque and power delivery in the low-to-mid rpm range.
Up front the T7 gets a new quad-LED headlight, new side covers, tail section, color-matched handguards and a flatter seat. The fuel tank cap is also updated for easier access. The footpegs are now wider and longer and the flatter one-piece seat is designed to provide greater comfort while retaining the same overall height.
An updated 43mm KYB front fork now includes a preload adjuster while the redesigned linked-type KYB rear shock offers increased stroke and load absorption for more off-road confidence.
The 2025 Yamaha Ténéré 700 will be available in Team Yamaha Blue or Tech Titanium and arrives at dealers in February for an MSRP of $10,999.
