Cycle News Staff | August 16, 2019
Thomas Covington will return to racing at tomorrow’s Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross at Budds Creek in Maryland, August 17. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Team rider has been sidelined since the Lakewood, Colorado, round June 1 after being diagnosed with the Epstein-Barr virus. He’ll ride the last two rounds—Budds Creek and the Ironman National (Crawfordsville, Indiana)—of the 2019 championship.

This also comes as just-turned-pro Jalek Swoll (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) announced that he will skip the final two rounds. Swoll, one of the top riders to graduate out of the amateur ranks post Loretta Lynn’s, made his pro debut last week at Unadilla. But Swoll came into Unadilla carrying an injury suffered at Loretta’s and has decided not to rush things and will instead sit out Budds Creek and Crawfordsville and start focusing on the 2020 season.
