Alex Martens of Konflict Motorsports Talks Suspension at the KTM Adventure Rider Rally.
The 2017 KTM Adventure Rider Rally was held in Crested Butte, Colorado for the second time in three years. With nearly 500 attendees including a massive staff of KTM event planners, celebrity riders, world-class racers and helpful technicians, it was a popular destination to say the least. On top of that, nearly 30 vendors from the Adventure Motorcycling industry showcased their latest adventure-motorcycle gear and services.
We had a quick chat with Konflict Motorsports’ Alex Martens inside their booth at the KTM Adventure Rider Rally to see why they made the trip, what kind of cool new stuff they have and what they think the KTM Adventure Rider Rally is all about.

What product is drawing the most interest from the attendees at the KTM Rally?
Alex Martens: I’ve been a participant, but have never been a vendor and we will be back, for sure. Everybody needs suspension work at some point. And riding with a lot of bikes here at the event showcases what the bikes can do when they’re properly set up. So that’s been the most important feedback for us. Just interacting with the customers we have here and talking to potential new ones.
In my experience, suspension set up is usually the last thing riders do if they’re a new rider or new to the adventure segment. If it’s an experienced rider in the adventure segment and they get a new bike, it’s usually the first thing they do. So that shows what a difference it can make.
Why should riders consider attending the KTM Adventure Rider Rally?
Alex Martens: As I attend a lot of other events throughout the country, this is by far the most relaxed atmosphere and has the best riding. And I hear from others that most of the locations for KTM rallies are the same. The KTM crew has done everything that could possibly be done, across the board, to make it as excellent for the participants and the vendors. And, really, just having like-minded individuals, from vendors to pros to everyday riders, to go ride with is an experience most people will never have in another environment. CN
