Rick Ryan (No. 24) leads the pack into one of the early turns in the 1984 Daytona Supercross at Daytona International Speedway. The pack that day was filled with one of the most talented lineups in the history of the race. Chasing Ryan through the bend is Bob Hannah (No. 6), Rick Johnson (No. 17), Jim Holley (No. 28), Scott Burnworth (No. 8), Jeff Ward (No. 4) and Mark Barnett (No. 2).
Like we said – a super-talented field.
Emerging victorious from this pack was Team Honda’s David Bailey (No. 1, tucked in behind Barnett and Hannah). Bailey scored his first AMA Supercross of that season ahead of Johnson and Johnny O’Mara. Hannah led the first three laps of the race before crashing out.
Leader Rick Ryan finished eighth in this race, but would come back three years later and take a stunning victory at Daytona.
