2017 BMW K 1600 B: FIRST LOOK
Cycle News Staff | October 25, 2016
BMW will join the American bagger fight next year after unveiling the brand-new K 1600 B.
Based off the same engine and chassis platform as the company’s K16 range, the K 1600 B will pack a 160 horsepower six-cylinder punch and neo-retro styling that BMW says embodies the “Spirit of the Open Road.”
That includes the traditional bagger-style high-point fairing and deep set side cases, as well as new rear lights and chrome plated mufflers in a backward sloping/tear drop rear design.
The B will come standard with the BMW electronic suspension (Dynamic ESA) in “Road” and “Cruise” modes. “Road” gives a slightly stiffer setting to “Cruise”, whose damping rates have been softened to provide optimum comfort in slow speed cruising situations.
Also on the B will be BMW’s Shift Assist Pro (up and down quickshifter) and a reverse assist feature, actuated by a button on the left handlebar.CN
