First Look: 2016 Yamaha YZ250X

Yamaha added the YZ250X—an off-road version of the YZ250 motocrosser—to its 2016 lineup.
Yamaha expanded the versatility of its YZ250 two-stroke motocrosser by also offering it now in an off-road version, ready for GNCC racing. For 2016, Yamaha has introduced the YZ250X off-roader, which is closely based on the YZ250.
Yamaha didn’t make a ton of changes to the X, but just enough to make it ready for closed-course off-road racing, which is exactly how most off-roaders want it.
Yamaha took the YZ250 and gave it an 18-inch rear wheel, a sealed O-ring chain, a narrower exhaust pipe, a side stand and a fuel petcock with reserve position. It also has a wide-ratio five-speed transmission and KYB suspension (including the Speed Sensitive System oil/spring fork) that has been retuned for off-road riding.
The 2016 YZ250X will be available in Team Yamaha Blue/White and will retail for $7,390. It will arrive at Yamaha dealerships nationwide beginning in late August.
