(Sacramento, California, May 16) Defending 250 National MX Champion Jeremy Martin wore the number-one plate proudly on his Yamahalube/Star Racing Yamaha YZ250F at Hangtown by claiming the overall victory at the opening round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship in the 250 class.

It didn’t start off great for Martin who placed second to Marvin Musquin, who ran off with the first-moto win on his Red Bull KTM 250 SX-F Factory Edition. Martin had to work his way to the front after a so-so start, which included having to pass his teammate Cooper Webb. Musquin was too far gone for Martin to catch, but he returned the favor in the second moto by pretty much leading from start to finish, taking full advantage of a bad start by Musquin.

Musquin still rode well and came up through the pack to grab second, but by that time, Martin was long gone.

Martin’s 2-1 beat out Musquin’s 1-2 for the overall win.

Third on the day went to Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Chris Alldredge. It was his first trip to the podium in the outdoor Nations and it was well earned. The recently turned pro rider was fast and consistent in both motos, going 5-3 for third overall.

Jeremy Martin’s brother, Alex, also put in a fine ride on his CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha. He went 6-4 for fourth overall, while Alex Rodriguez made it two Yamahalube/Star Racing YZs in the top five with a 7-6. It was his best finish ever in the outdoor Nationals.

And the fun didn’t stop there for the Star Racing team. Aaron Plessinger, in his first ever outdoor National, went 10-8 for sixth overall.

Behind Plessinger finished to Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki riders, Joey Savatgy and Adam Cianciarulo, who look super fast early one. He was the top 250 qualifier and was leading the first 250 moto before crashing.

GEICO Honda’s Matt Bisceglia and Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Cooper Webb rounded out the top 10.

Webb finished third in the first moto but twisted his already injured ankle in the second moto and had to pull off. There is a chance he will sit out next week’s race at Glen Helen.
