MEDFORD, OR (February 5, 2014) – It wasn’t tough finding our Motorcycle Superstore/Bell helmet support riders this past weekend; you just needed to look at the podiums as five of them were standing right there.
King of the Motos – Webb & Forsley
A pair of firsts is not a bad way to start the season, especially when it’s at one of the toughest off-road races in America. This was a race Factory Beta’s Cody Webb has been preparing for since last year – when he took the title – and there was no doubt Webb was planning to win again. “I had a target on my back going into this year’s King of the Motos after nabbing the win last year. I have been physically preparing for this race as much as possible and it paid off huge for me! The course had some very difficult parts this year and my bike handled perfectly all day and I had a blast. This was a great way to start off the 2014 season following my late success I had in the EnduroCross series in 2013. I’m excited to get back at it and tackle what comes next.”
This was FMF/RPM/KTM Racing’s Louise Forsley’s first attempt at this extreme event, and she’ll be the first to admit it was a butt-kicking race. “It was intense, but I had a good time and happy I finished top in the Women’s class. It was another great, grueling race experience and I’ll be back to give it another shot. Thanks to the promoters for adding a Women’s class. Hopefully it will continue to grow and encourage more women to come race.”
Team FMF/RPM/KTM Racing and Motorcycle-Superstore Support Riders, Ty Tremaine and Travis Coy, both put in impressive rides, finishing eighth and ninth… great finishes when you look at the field of racers who finished behind them.
Supercross – Brayton Moves Into Fourth
Angel Stadium was host to the third round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross and like every other round this year the racing was epic – and Chad Reed proved he is the real deal. Based on his previous performances, JGR/Yamaha’s Justin Brayton may have looked like he was having an off weekend, but after the final results, Brayton actually improved his ranking in the points standing. His solid sixth place finish moved him up to fourth overall in the official points standings… only 18 out of first.
Off-Road – Bash Backs Up
Her Title at Big 6 GP
Round 1 of the Big 6 Grand Prix series kicked off this weekend in Taft, CA, and Motorcycle Superstore’s Elizabeth Bash was back in control. “I didn’t get the best of starts but was able to get into the lead on the first lap. I rode my own race and tried to get a gap on the other ladies. It feels good to come away with the win in Round 1.”
One of the reasons Bash didn’t get ‘the best of starts’ was due to Rily Ellinger, who pulled a huge holeshot. At the end of the race, Rily missed the podium by one spot with a fourth in class finish.

Team FMF/RPM/KTM Racing’s Eric Yorba, on the other hand, had no problem with the start, grabbing the lead out of the gate in his first Big 6 Pro race. Eric impressed a lot of people with his 2nd place overall finish. “The Big 6 GP at Taft went pretty well for me. Went much better than my Pro debut at WORCS Round 1 did. After being sick for the first three weeks of the year it was nice to feel healthy and see what I can do with the pros. I was able to get the holeshot and led for a lap and a half. Bobby Bonds got around me and I was able to stay there and finish second on the day. I feel great and looking forward to WORCS this weekend in Primm to see what I can do now at 100%”
Off-Road – (LACC)
LA Cross-Country Series
Motorcycle Supertore’s Maxxis/KLIM/DirtWise KTM team racer, Jason Thomas, scored a triumphant victory at Round 1 of the LACC series in Louisiana on the weekend. Thomas was very pleased with his opening race result of 2014 and went on to say, “I had such a fun time out there today and was stoked was get another victory so early in the race season. The track was actually quite technical with lots of deep ruts especially through all of the swampy sections. It brought back childhood memories of smashing across the bogs of the Welsh countryside from when I was a kid growing up in England!”
What’s Up Next…
This coming weekend, WORCS moves to Primm, NV, where FMF/RPM/KTM Racing will enter Eric Yorba, Travis Coy and Justin Jones for the second round of the series, plus Motorcycle Superstore’s Gary Sutherlin says he has plans to win the whole thing! Round 2 of the AMA Hare & Hound series explodes in Lucerne, CA, where Jacob Argubright will put his Factory Husqvarna on the start line.
