The JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha Team has signed Kyle Regal to race the 2012 AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series, filling the spot vacated by James Stewart. Regal will join 2012 Supercross Series runner-up Davi Millsaps on the team.
Regal showed plenty of promise in the outdoors series in 2010 when he rode a Merge Racing Honda to ninth overall in the 450 class, and that was including missing a couple of rounds due to injury. Regal’s best finish was a second-place finish in the second moto at the Spring Creek National that same year.
At the end of the 2010 season, Regal joined Stewart on the San Manuel Yamaha team for Supercross and the outdoors, but the team chose not to participate in the outdoors that year, leaving Regal without a ride.
Regal started his 2012 Supercross season on a Merge Racing Honda but finished it out filling in for the Hart & Huntington Kawasaki team.
“We are coming off a great supercross season with Davi Millsaps, and both Davi and Kyle are turning some very fast laps at our test track,” said JGRMX team manager Jeremy Albrecht in a release from the team. “We are excited about the upcoming outdoor national season.”
“I am excited about this opportunity, the bike is awesome and the team has been great getting me comfortable with the set-up,” Regal said. “I am looking forward to Hangtown and the 2012 outdoor season.”
