AMA Road Racing on SPEED in 2011

AMA Pro Road Raceing fans will continue to enjoy same day coverage after it was announced that SPEED would continue broadcasting the series in 2011.”We have an existing contract and and (the Daytona Motorsports Group) had an option to opt out if desired, and they didn’t,” Rick Miner, SPEED’s senior vice president of production and network operations, said in a phone call.Miner added that he and SPEED president Hunter Nickle had met with DMG principals at the Virginia International Raceway round of the championship in August, where the deal was struck. “They confirmed their interest to us even before then,” Miner said.The races are again expected to be broadcast on the evening their held, Miner said, though he was awaiting a full schedule. He was also awaiting confirmation of the Daytona 200 date and time before announcing whether that race would be held live or nearly live, as it’s been broadcast the past two years.Miner also said that SPEED would continue to broadcast both MotoGP and World Superbike as part of existing contracts.
