Final Golden Ticket Winners Announced (06/01/2010)

Press Release | June 2, 2010

“This has been an absolutely amazing experience,” exclaimed Colin McCaughey from Perth, Australia, who was one of the eight “Golden Ticket” winners for the United States Grand Prix motocross race at Glen Helen on Memorial Day weekend. Talk about being a kid in a candy store, Colin used his all-access ticket at the USGP to see everything from the starting gate to the finish line as well as behind the scenes in the pressroom and race control.

“I still can’t believe I got one of the Golden Tickets,” claims Colin. Strangely enough this sweet deal was dreamt up by a dentist: race promoter Bud Feldkamp is not Willy Wonka, but an actual DDS. Susumu Ishii from Tokyo, Japan, and Daniel Stinson from nearby Yorba Linda were the final two winners drawn on Friday afternoon. Stinson, who ironically works All American Asphalt in Yorba Linda, was the last guest treated to a couple days in the dirt.

Ishii and Stinson join the aforementioned McCaughey from Australia; Howard Surtees from London, England; and Oda Haensch from Loehne, Germany. The lucky locals included Stinson, Timothy Scott from Torrance, Michael Tubbs from Simi Valley and Taralyn Barbula from Riverside. As much fun as the winners had at USGP at Glen Helen, the Golden Tickets will really pay off in Las Vegas. Each of the eight Grand Prize packages includes a two-night stay at Michael Gaughan’s South Point Hotel, dinner for two at the Silverado Steakhouse and a pair of South Point show tickets.

Each week two (2) Grand Prize packages were awarded via random drawing (for a total of 8 during the promotion). Check the Glen Helen Raceway website http://www.glenhelen.com to see the drawings from 5/10/10, 5/17/10, 5/24/10 and 5/31/10.

“I am glad that we were able to reward winners from around the world with this sweet deal,” quips Feldkamp. “Since the best motocross racers in the world competed at Glen Helen Raceway for the USGP, it seemed only fair to award an equal number of the Golden Tickets to GP fans visiting us from other countries.”

After the race, the winners can now redeem their Golden Tickets at the South Point Casino, located just off the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. South Point’s incredible amenities include the 16-screen movie complex, a 64-lane bowling center and an array of restaurants to suit any taste. The casino features top table games and the latest slot and video poker machines. The spacious rooms feature 42-inch plasma TVs, Point Plush mattresses and WiFi throughout. There is also a 400-seat showroom featuring headliner entertainment and dancing to live bands on weekends.
