MotoGP returns once again to the historic Monterey Peninsula on the weekend of July 18-20 at the world-famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Yamaha Motor Corporation USA also returns as the proud motorcycle sponsor.
Three years ago Yamaha helped fund the required track improvements enabling the prestigious series to return to the U.S. and this year’s event promises to be more exciting for fans than ever before. Yamaha factory MotoGP riders James Toseland, Colin Edwards, Jorge Lorenzo, and Valentino Rossi have earned a total of 13 World Championships between them and each one of them will have their sights set firmly on the podium!
“Racing remains the lifeblood of our company,” said Bob Starr, General Manager of National Communications, “and this event each year allows us to focus on our racing heritage and its importance to each and every one of us at Yamaha.”
The ever-popular “Yamaha Weekend of Champions” will return once again to the Yamaha Marketplace featuring 18 Yamaha racing heroes such as Jamie James, Broc Glover, Doug Henry, Wayne Rainey and this year’s inductee into the Legends of Laguna Seca, 4 Time World Champion Eddie Lawson. Autograph sessions are scheduled at fan friendly times on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Additionally, Yamaha and its financial services partner GE Commercial Distribution Finance are proud to once again bring fans exciting entertainment for Saturday evening following MotoGP qualifying. This year’s entertainment will be none other than Tech 3 Yamaha Factory pilot James Toseland and his band Crash! In addition to his fantastic Road Racing resume, James is also a classically trained pianist, and he and his band Crash should provide truly memorable entertainment for fans at this year’s event.
