Jarrett Gets Fifth-Straight at Millville OMA

Team FMF/Suzuki Off-road’s Jimmy Jarrett (pictured) notched his fifth-straight win in the Parts Unlimited Off-road Motorcycle and ATV Nationals, running away from the field on a nearly perfect day at round six, the Rekluse Spring Creek Grand Prix at the Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota. Jarrett’s teammate, Josh Strang from Australia, ended up second in his first OMA race while Josh Weisenfels, a new recruit on the Monster Energy Kawasaki/Fred Andrews Racing team, claimed third.

Jarrett started out by getting another one of his trademark holeshots on his Dunlop/Maxima/Moose RM250, but before long, Alex Martin”a Honda-supported motocrosser whose father, John, owns the Spring Creek facility”worked his Factory Connection/Scott/THOR CRF250R past Jarrett for the lead.

Unfortunately, the youngster tipped over a few times and was unable to maintain first, though Jarrett had no such problems after dicing with Martin for the first couple laps. After that, the race was all Jarrett’s. Strang soon made his way into second on his RG3/Works Connection/Acerbis RM250, though he couldn’t match Jarrett’s pace.

Martin would eventually surrender third to Weisenfels and end up fourth, just a few seconds in front of a hard-charging Brian Garrahan who’d come from a mediocre start to race through the pack on his Valli Construction/Maxxis/Moose YZ450F.

“It seemed like the first half of the race, we were kind of charging, and I felt pretty good,” Jarrett said. “It seemed like once I got a gap, I kind of said, Relax, and it seemed like I rode worse; I kept making little mistakes. I don’t know; this is the first race back [after the summer break]. It’s a little tough to go that hard again. But it turned out all right.”

With four rounds remaining, Jarrett has a solid grip on the series points lead over Garrahan, 171-98.
