Lange Extends Series Lead at Guthrie BooKoo AX

Shan Moore | January 28, 2007

Darcy Lange (pictured) continued his domination of the BooKoo Arenacross Championship Series by taking three main event wins and a second at round eight of the series held at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Lange’s main competition on the weekend came from 15-year-old Tyler Bowers of the MDK/Shift Honda team. Bowers topped Lange to win the final race of the weekend, Saturday’s 450 main, and finished second in the remaining three races, further securing his runner up status in the current point standings. However, the young Bowers is still a full 111 points behind Lange in the quest for the title.

Finishing third in all four final events in Oklahoma was Jimmy Nelson of Battle Mountain, Nevada. Nelson grabbed the holeshot in Saturday’s 450 main and threatened to pull away, however the GPS Racing-backed rider soon gave way to the hard-charging Bowers and Lange, who was recovering from his only bad start of the weekend.

With just two races remaining on the schedule, Lange can mathematically wrap up the title at the next-to-last round in Minnesota, however Bowers has been on a rampage and can still pull off the championship if something drastic should happen to Lange.
