Pichon For Anaheim

Suzuki’s two-time World Champion Mickael Pichon has confirmed that he intends to compete in the Anaheim Supercross this Saturday, according to a release issued by his team.

Pichon escaped the bad weather conditions in Europe to continue his training program in Southern California last week and is reported to be well up to the speed that took him to two consecutive 250cc MX world titles with Suzuki in 2001 and 2002, the team release says.

The Suzuki factory is obviously keen to keep Pichon off the injury list and firmly focused on scoring a third consecutive world crown and Pichon isn’t aiming to prove a point in his wild card entry at Anaheim.

“Mickael is a true professional and he understands where the priority lies,” explained Suzuki’s World MX Team Manager Sylvain Geboers. “He is looking to compete at Anaheim as part of his training program, to sharpen up his race skills before the start of the World Championship. You can train hard and make fast lap times and race times on your own, but you also need to have some real race practice and this is Mickael’s aim at Anaheim.”

Pichon is also considering riding in the sixth round of the supercross series at San Diego on February 8 before returning to Europe to complete his training for the start of the World Championship in Spain on March 30.
