Aussie Shane Watts won round three of the AMA Grand National Cross Country Series in Cross Keys, South Carolina, yesterday. The KTM rider who took last season by storm before being injured, had also won the opening round this year, but he was bettered by defending champ Rodney Smith at round two. This win netted him the series points lead, with his 58 points being six better than his closest rival.

Finishing second in Carolina was another foreigner, Englishman Paul Edmondson. The Kawasaki Team Green pilot who won the first two rounds of this season’s AMA National Hare Scrambles Series hasn’t won a round yet in GNCC competition, but this was pretty close. Eddy was followed by Steve Hatch, the top Suzuki Off-Road rider.

Hatch is second in points behind Watts’ 58 with 52, while Smith is third with 39. Edmondson is another point back in fourth.
