In this week’s Throwback we dial back the Time Machine to May of 1989 and arrive at round five of the World Championship 125 Motocross Grand Prix in Borgloon, Belgium. Americans scored some major highlights that weekend and this photo illustrates that perfectly. This is the start of the second moto and that’s American Rick Ryan nailing the holeshot and doing a wheelie on his Suzuki. Also in the image are Ryan’s fellow Americans Trampas Parker (58) and Mike Healey (5). Healey came through to score the moto win, Fellow KTM rider Parker went 1-2 to earn the overall victory that day. Parker went on to win the 125 Motocross World Championship that season. There were three Americans in the top five of the series at the end of the year with Healey finishing third and Bobby Moore earning fourth.
