Akrapovic has launched an all-new protection-bar set for BMW R 1300 GS/R 1300 GS Adventure models.
Created from sandblasted titanium tubes and TIG-welded carbon fiber, the lightweight left and right protection bars protect the BMW’s engine from impacts. They are approximately 40 percent lighter than comparable stainless-steel versions and are corrosion resistant. Weighing just 6.6 pounds combined, the bars offer the option to attach extra bags and fog lights or spotlights from BMW and other manufacturers to the set.

The left and right protection bars are constructed from sandblasted titanium tubes. They are approximately 40% lighter than comparable stainless-steel versions, but they still offer the same high-strength mechanical properties while also providing lighter weight and added corrosion resistance. Altogether, this protection bar set weighs in at 3.02 kg, making it one of the lightest protection bar sets on the market for the BMW R 1300 GS / R 1300 GS Adventure. The completely new design has been developed to protect the motorbike’s engine. The highly stable construction is partly fixed to the chassis to distribute any impact through the bars and has been designed to integrate with the bike’s components. This precisely engineered protection bar set has no restriction on the lean angle, and it meets ABE type approval.
The all-new design features carbon-fiber protection elements 2.5 mm thick. Added to the protection bar set, these provide structural strength and give the end user the option of changing these parts if they are damaged. This product is precision TIG welded and equipped with laser-cut and finely machined 10 mm flanges to provide a perfect fit and strength, and Akrapovic has conducted numerous tests and deformation analyses to establish the optimum protection from this set. The precision to detail in the manufacturing is completed with an engraved Akrapovic logo, with the word Titanium prominently displayed to emphasize the use of this material in the construction. When fitted, the bars offer the option to attach extra bags and fog lights or spotlights from BMW and other manufacturers to the set.
