Ken Roczen

Ken Roczen hit the deck hard during the 450SX main event when his rear shock broke in the whoop section. The rear suspension went into a “pogo-stick” motion and eventually catapulted Roczen off the bike despite him nearly riding it out. The crash seemed to impact his knee and ankle and after getting checked out it’s cofnrimed that he’ll be out for the rest of the Supercross season with a broken tibia plateau, foot, and toe. No surgery seems to be needed at the time of this update.

Tuesday: “After further evaluation it looks like I will be out for a little bit. It turns out I broke my tib plateau , my foot and my toe. No surgery is required as of right now but we are still gathering some information and further evaluation. That’s really all I have for now. Bye bye SX24 you were pretty cool!”

Sunday: “Getting some MRI’s on Monday. Knee, ankle and toes got all of it. We are doing some investigation as my shock body only had about 3h on it and we have never seen it malfunction like that. It wasn’t a seal or anything. The bottom cap/ housing or what ever you want to call it completely exploded. What a bummer. It was shaping up to be a good battle. But once again you can’t take a ol German oak out just like that.”

Chase Sexton

Chase Sexton also suffered a scary crash during the main event after launching off the single-single section across the start straight. KTM claims a rock cracked his throttle body which caused the bike to stick wide open off the face. Sexton did not finish the race but confirmed he’ll be good to go next weekend in Philly.

Monday (Instagram): “Tough get off this weekend after a bike malfunction left me with a DNF. Overall thankful to be all good after that one, and I’ll be back firing on all cylinders come Philadelphia!”

Saturday (Press Release): “Crashed out tonight. A stone cracked my throttle body and the throttle got stuck off of that single-single, which ended my night. Bummer, but nothing’s broken, and we’ll bounce back in Philadelphia.”

Levi Kitchen

Levi Kitchen fell on the opening lap of the 250SX Showdown after tangling with his teammate Cameron McAdoo. He was slow to get up but remounted to finish 14th and now trails RJ Hampshire by two in the 250SX West Coast points. Kitchen checked into the hospital after the race for what felt like “some broken ribs”.

Sunday (Press Release): “It is crazy how quickly things can change in this sport. I started the weekend off strong with a third overall qualifying spot. In my heat race I got caught behind some riders on the ground and then they red flagged it. After the restart I managed to pull off a sixth. The night quickly changed for me when Cameron and I got together in the rhythm section in the main, causing me to go down very hard on my side and then I was run over by a competitor. I slowly got up and managed to salvage some points, but had to get checked out to make sure I was good.

Saturday (Instagram): “Feels like some broken ribs but we will see. Glad to salvage some points. Ain’t over yet.”

Cameron McAdoo

Cameron McAdoo fell early in the day’s qualifying session which set the tone for his night. The 250SX East Coast points leader clipped another rider after the whoops which sent him shoulder-first into the coming rhythm section. Later in the main he tagged his teammate Kitchen and fell again before pulling out of the race and forgoing the points lead to Tom Vialle.

Sunday (Instagram): Unfortunately yesterday during qualifying while on a roll lap another rider and I came together damaging my shoulder. I did everything in my power to race the main last night but it just wasn’t possible to finish safely. I will be further evaluated this week to find out the extent of it and will update everyone accordingly. It’s very easy to resort to “why me?” but I’ve learned that way of thinking never encourages progress to get where I want to be. Thank you to all of my partners and fans for the continued support. P.S. I’m glad that @_levikitchen is okay after our crash in the main

Sunday (Press Release): “Gutted is an understatement. The first qualifying session and the beginning of the second qualifying session were going to plan. My KX 250 was feeling good all day, but a crash in the second qualifying session caused me to pull off and get my shoulder checked on before the night show. I made the call to line up for my heat race and see how it felt on the track. I managed to make it into the main after battling my shoulder pain and unfortunately Levi and I got together causing us both to go down and when I got back up, I tried to continue, but the pain was unbearable. We are going to get everything checked out and stay hopeful that I can continue the last few rounds.”

Garrett Marchbanks

Garrett Marchbanks’ crash in the 250 West Heat Race caused the red flag to fly after he was unable to be moved safely off the track. He confirmed a concussion and a broken thumb but with a week off for the West Coast riders, we might see him finish out the season as he’s currently fifth in points.
