Kawasaki Motocross Legends Celebrate 50 Years Of The KX

Several Kawasaki motocross legends helped Kawasaki welcome its retro version of the company’s all-new KX450 motocrosser. Kawasaki is celebrating 50 years of the KX model with its early 1990s-styled 50th Anniversary Edition 2024 KX450 with old-school shroud graphics and Uni-Trak decal on the swingarm. The bike will be sold alongside the 2024 KX450 with standard graphics. The Anniversary Edition also gets a blue seat, silver wheels and white fork guards.
The event was held in conjunction with the SuperMotocross Finals at the iconic LA Coliseum on Friday night, September 22.
Kawasaki unveiled the retro version on the stadium’s floor after unloading the bike from a box van, which was used by the factory teams back then, and Jeff “Chicken” Matiasevich hopping on the bike and grabbing a few gears down the track’s long straightaway. It’s hard to get more retro than that.
Prior to the unveiling, several Kawasaki legends gathered and took a trip down memory lane by chatting about the “old” days and some of their most memorable moments. It was bench racing at its best. Of course, stealing the stage was Jimmy Weinert, who hasn’t lost any of his enthusiasm for racing. Other legendary Kawasaki riders who shared stories included Brad Lackey, Jeff Ward, Damon Huffman, Jeff “Chicken” Matiasevich, Mike Kiedrowski, Mike LaRocco, Mike Craig, Ryan Hughes, Jeff Emig and Ryan Villopoto.
