Throwback Thursday: 1996 Las Vegas 600cc Supersport Battle
In this week’s Throwback we travel back 23 years to 1996 and the Pro Honda Oils 600cc Supersport Series finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In this photo you get the sense of just how tight the competition was in the series. Ben Bostrom (No. 11) is heading up the 10-rider lead pack. Also visible in the Henny Ray Abrams photo are Jason Pridmore (No. 7), Gerald Rothman, Jr. (No. 5), Andrew Stroud (No. 130), Doug Toland (No. 30), Matt Wait (No. 195), Thomas Stevens (No. 2) and Todd Harrington (No. 74). Rothman was able to race his Moto Liberty Honda CBR600 to the front and take victory over the Kawasakis of Pridmore and Harrington. Rothman’s margin of victory was 0.002 seconds, possibly an inch or two.
