Corona, CA (May 1, 2019) – Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo, Garrett Marchbanks and Martin Davalos look to cap off an amazing season at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas with another victory. As the season comes to a close, the riders hope that lady luck continues to be on their side in Sin City considering the team has taken wins in eight out of the last 10 years. From Christophe Pourcel in 2009 to the back-to-back wins by Cianciarulo in 2017 and 2018, the trio is ready to continue the domination. The team will be without its Eastern Regional frontrunner Austin Forkner who has made the tough decision to heal up and come back 100 percent after injuring his knee in Nashville.
All eyes will be on the No. 92 of Cianciarulo as he attempts to secure his first 250SX Championship on Saturday. With five wins already under his belt this season and the reigning winner at Sam Boyd Stadium two years running, Cianciarulo brings confidence into the final round of the season. He also took the win at the first showdown in Atlanta, coming from behind for the victory.
“Vegas is one of those races I have always felt really comfortable at,” said Cianciarulo. “Even with its heat and wind and the combined showdown style, it really pumps me up to be under the lights there. Now more than ever I would love to get the win in Vegas, but we are in a position this year that I haven’t been in the past and we’ll also be focusing on bringing the team a championship.”
Last weekend in New Jersey, Davalos completed his 100th career start – an accomplishment he is very proud of. He has one win to his credit this year and is looking to land on the podium one more time this season. Davalos was recovering from injury at last year’s finale so he’s hoping to make up for his absence with a great result.
“I can’t believe we’ve already made it through to Vegas,” said Davalos. “The season has flown by and I couldn’t be more excited to line up in front of all the fans this weekend. I look at every weekend I get to race as a huge blessing and I never take it for granted. I would love to round out the season with another great race.”
Rookie Marchbanks has gotten used to the bright lights of supercross, but now he’s ready to experience one final round before heading out to the familiar dirt of motocross. The young gun is not a rookie to the dirt of Sam Boyd Stadium, competing at the Monster Energy Cup in the amateur All-Stars races, and is looking to take that familiarity to produce a great final result.
“I’ve been lucky enough to race in Vegas before and I’m hoping it will help get me comfortable a lot quicker than some of the other tracks,” said Marchbanks. “It would be amazing if I could get back on the podium at the final round, but I’m going to use all that I’ve learned this season and get the best possible result for the team.”
The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki riders will be signing autographs on Friday, May 3 from 6 – 7 p.m. at Carter Powersports in Las Vegas.
The race from Sam Boyd Stadium will be broadcast LIVE on NBC Sports starting on Saturday, May 4 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
