Artist and a passionate motorcyclist, Othelo Gervacio partners with Dainese in Settantadue collection.

New York (March 21, 2018) — New York-based Othelo Gervacio is a multidisciplinary artist who specializes in painting. He describes his subject matter as something that everyone can look at and have some sort of emotional connection to. Recently, he partnered with Italian motorcycle brand Dainese to create a unique graphic called the Demon Flower, which is featured in the Dainese Settantadue Collection.
To create the Demon Flower, Gervacio found a personal connection between his art and the Dainese Settantadue brand: “One of my main subject matters are flowers,” he explains. “I often look at them or pose them to represent people, considering the parallel of postures, body language, etc.”
The inspiration for the Demon Flower was the Tacca Chantrieri, a flowering plant that resembles a demon or black cat: 12 inches across and with long ‘whiskers’ that can grow up to 28 inches. Gervacio said he had, “never seen such a flower before, almost seeming like they could have come from another planet. Of course, I was intrigued to paint such an eerily beautiful plant and include it into my language for the Dainese Settantadue collaboration.”.
In addition to the flower, Gervacio drew inspiration from his own background with motorcycles. He has been riding for 10 years and loves the aesthetic of the world around racing. “The suits, the personalized bikes, the adornments all inspired what I have designed.”
The Demon Flower graphic is featured in the Dainese Settantadue collection as the lining in the new Patina72 jacket. The Patina72 is a one-of-a-kind motorcycle riding jacket that features soft, drum-dyed leather treated with a distinctive patina, and a special brushing unique that gives it a distinctive look. Like the art itself, each jacket is unique and no two are the same.
