Giacomo Agostini AGV X3000 Replica Coming—Giacomo Agostini is the all-time leader in Grand Prix victories and world championships. The daring and handsome Italian superstar claimed a staggering 15 world championships and 122 individual race victories across the 350cc and 500cc classes in the 1960s and early 1970s, as well as 10 Isle of Man TT victories—a career tally of victories over a wide range of classes and machines that is unlikely to ever be topped.
The only man to consistently challenge the great Mike Hailwood during one of the golden eras of racing will always be remembered for the Italian Tri-Color adorning the first ever full face motorcycle racing helmet, and now AGV has decided to honor the man with his own X3000 replica to be released in mid-2018 as part of the AGV Legends series, which also honors Agostini’s rival Renzo Pasolini, who was tragically killed along with the great Jarno Sarinen in the 1973 Italian 250cc Grand Prix.
This is not the first retro AGV to have ever been sold but it’s certainly the most modern. The X3000 will be constructed in carbon fiber, the same as what Agostini used in the 1960s when AGV was the first company to use the material in helmet construction. This is a purely retro design but one still fits like a modern helmet, with a removable and washable liner and a cool button closer to the visor.
There’ll be two versions of the X3000, one dubbed the Super in four different colors, with the Agostini helmet going for $699 and limited to just 3000 units.
