Roger Hayden pulled it out of the bag to take the first pole of 2017.

Roger Hayden (Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing) pulled a last lap lunge to take the first Superbike pole of the 2017 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship at Circuit of The Americas.

The Kentucky rider clocked a 2:08.184 lap, besting two-time and defending champion Cameron Beaubier (Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing) with his 2:08.342.

Hayden’s teammate Toni Elias looked to be on pole for much of the session, before eventually finishing third with a 2:08.429s lap. Fourth and first Superstock 1000 rider was Bobby Fong (Latus Racing Kawasaki) with a 2:09.588 at the track he won both races last year.

Rounding out the top five was four-time AMA Superbike Champion Josh Hayes (Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing).
