The Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, TX, got underway this morning with Marc Marquez topping the time sheets from Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Iannone, with Hector Barbera and Andrea Dovizioso making it three Ducati’s out the top five.
Marquez put down a 2:04.953 flier on lap 10, a little under 1.5sec off his own lap record, set back in 2014 on Bridgestone control tires.
Scott Redding was another Ducati rider in sixth from Valentino Rossi, Yonny Hernandez, Maverick Vinales and Dani Pedrosa rounding out the top 10.
The session was marred by a big highside from Australian Jack Miller, he walked away but looked in a fair amount of pain.
