American Motorcyclist Association congratulates AMA Supercross Champion Ryan Dungey on ESPY award

Pickerington, OH (July 17, 2015) – The American Motorcyclist Association congratulates 2015 AMA Supercross Champion Ryan Dungey on winning the Best Male Action Sports Athlete category at the 23rd annual ESPY awards, presented by ESPN.

“We are very pleased to see Ryan honored for his accomplishments in AMA Supercross, and we congratulate him on this award,” said AMA Director of Supercross Kevin Crowther. “The skill, talent, determination and physical fitness demanded by AMA Supercross are extraordinary, and Ryan’s recognition is so rightfully deserved. We fully expect this award will introduce new fans to one of the most thrilling sports on the planet, and that AMA Supercross fans everywhere will tune in to watch Ryan defend his AMA No. 1 plate in 2016.”

Dungey excelled during the 2015 AMA Supercross season, winning eight main events in 17 rounds to earn his fourth career premier class title.

Dungey has competed in professional AMA Supercross and Motocross since 2006. In 2009, he won the 250cc class title in both AMA Supercross and Motocross. In 2010, he won both the AMA Supercross and Motocross titles in the premier 450cc class. Dungey captured his fifth title in 2012, the 450cc AMA Motocross Championship.

Dungey joins fellow 2015 ESPY award winners: basketball star LeBron James, football player Lionel Messi, professional golfer Jordan Speith, and tennis stars Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic.
