ELKHART LAKE, WI, MAY 30 – Monster Energy Graves Yamaha’s Josh Hayes fired back to take pole position over his teammate Cameron Beaubier for tomorrow’s MotoAmerica Superbike/Superstock 1000 doubleheader at Road America. As the 15-minute Superpole 2 session wound down, the four-time AMA Superbike Champion looked to have a convincing lock on the pole position, but his young teammate made a last-minute push at the end. Ultimately it was not enough to take the top spot, but Beaubier was able to close the gap to .214 of a second.

Also improving his position in the final moments was Yoshimura Suzuki’s Jake Lewis who displaced Superstock 1000 rider Jake Gagne on the Road Race Factory Yamaha to take that last spot on the front row.

In fifth was Superbike racer Bernat Martinez on the Yamaha Blumaq YZF-R1.  Behind Martinez was Superstock riders Taylor Knapp on the TOBC Racing Yamaha, Josh Day on the Yamalube Westby Racing Yamaha and Shane Narbonne on the GN Gonzalez Racing Yamaha.

Lewis’ teammate Roger Hayden crashed earlier in the session, ultimately putting him ninth on the grid. Rounding out the top 10 was Geico Suzuki’s Chris Ulrich.
