ELKHART LAKE, WI, MAY 30 – Wheels In Motion/Motorsport.com/Meen Yamaha’s Josh Herrin battled the elements and kept it on two wheels to take the MotoAmerica Supersport race one win at Road America. For Herrin keeping it on two wheels was the main goal after crashing out of the first race of the year at the Circuit of The Americas, and his discretion paid off big time, earning him his third win of the year and the lead in the championship

Herrin took the lead straight away, but at the close of the first lap it was Yamalube Y.E.S. Graves Yamaha’s Garrett Gerloff that crossed the line in first. Unfortunately for Gerloff that lead didn’t last as he crashed out of the lead not long after.

Behind Herrin it was the Road Race Factory duo of Tomas Puerta and Cameron Petersen battling for second, with Petersen coming out on top and ultimately taking the lead from Herrin around lap five. Petersen stretched a bit of a gap on Herrin, but ultimately became a part of the war of attrition, crashing out in turn seven.

After that Herrin went unchallenged and Puerta rode the rest of the race in a lonely second, crossing the line nearly 27 seconds behind the former AMA Superbike champ.

The battle for third came down between Puerta and Petersen’s teammate, Ben Young and JD Beach on the other Yamalube Y.E.S. Graves Yamaha, with Young taking advantage of a Beach mistake to take his best ever finish in the class.

Latus Motors Racing’s Bobby Fong was fifth ahead of Kyle Wyman on his self-ran Yamaha effort. In seventh was Zag Racing’s Javelin Broderick.

M4 Suzuki’s Melissa Paris also had her best ever finish in the class in eighth ahead of Gerloff who rejoined the race after his lap two crash. Rounding out the top 10 was Yamaha privateer Kaleb De Keyrel.
